Nasa on wrong planet

-

IT appears NASA is looking to get funding for yet another pointless mission to Mars by trying to whet our appetites into believing that there may be life on the planet.

And its evidence for this belief? Dark streaks on the planet’s surface which may point to the presence of water. Big deal.

As anyone who knows anything about chemistry will tell you, there’s an enormous gulf between the molecule H2O, and the existence of life.

The linking of the presence of water to the existence of life either shows an ignorance of basic biological fact, or a willingness to be economical with the truth.

So if NASA’s aim is to find new forms

of life, why doesn’t it invest its billions into looking into the Earth’s amazing ocean depths, rather than chasing their delusional dreams in outer space? MALCOLM MACDONALD, Linlithgow, West Lothian
