Final farewell for tragic schoolboy

-

HUNDREDS of mourners yesterday attended the funeral of a 16-year-old boy allegedly murdered at school.

Bailey Gwynne, pictured, died after an incident at Cults Academy, Aberdeen, on October 28.

The popular teenager lived with his parents, Kate Gwynne and John Henderson, and four younger brothers, who were joined by more than 300 mourners for his funeral at Maryculter Parish Church, Aberdeenshire, close to the family home.

Mr Henderson hugged and shook hands with friends and relatives as they arrived, while Bailey’s fellow pupils turned out in their school uniforms.

Teachers, including Cults Academy head Anna Muirhead, also paid their respects at the funeral service.

Songs by Rihanna, Paolo Nutini and the Rolling Stones classic Wild Horses were played in the church.

Pallbearers, including Bailey’s father, then carried his coffin to the cemetery for burial.
