Pensioner is forced to stand on jet
AN ELDERLY widower was forced to stand for hours on a transatlantic flight after his seat broke.
Seventy-year-old David McKay’s seat collapsed ten minutes into his nine-anda-half hour BA flight from Heathrow to Calgary in Canada.
Attempts to bolster it with blankets made little difference. ‘I kept getting terrible pains in my back, which is why I ended up standing,’ he said. Mr McKay of South Shields, Tyne and Wear, said: ‘Nobody should have to stand that long on a flight, never mind a 70year-old.’ BA apologised and compensated him with £100 in vouchers.
