CBI boss admits some firms want a Brexit

THE first female director general of the CBI admitted some members want Britain to leave the European Union – but insisted the majority of firms want to remain in, provided the UK government can secure reforms.

Carolyn Fairbairn said the business lobby group – which has a reputation for being pro-European listens to and ‘respects’ the views of members who favour a Brexit, or British departure from the EU.

She added that the CBI would consult its members once the Government had negotiated reforms on better trade deals, reduced regulation and fair treatment for countries such as the UK that are not part of the single currency.
