BULLY ROW PRINCIPAL GIVEN JOB BACK

-

AN embattled college principal is to return to work after the board which suspended her was sacked for chronic mismanagement.

Susan Walsh was removed from Glasgow Clyde College over accusations by the Educational Institute of Scotland staff union of bullying and harassment. But the college board was strongly criticised by Education Secretary Angela Constance after spending £100,000 on legal action against the former principal.

Last month the entire board was ousted by the Scottish Government, with Miss Constance said to be furious about the size of the legal bill.

Yesterday it was revealed a review of the decision to suspend Mrs Walsh by the new board had concluded she should face no action.

The new chairman of the board, Alex Linkston, said: ‘The current board has written to Miss Walsh to inform her that her suspension has been lifted with immediate effect.’

However, a spokesman for the EIS said: ‘The initial concerns raised by staff at Glasgow Clyde have still not been dealt with.’
