Bosses ‘destroying the BBC’

-

THE BBC is being destroyed by its management, one of its stars said yesterday. Shows are being harmed because bosses cannot make ‘elementary’ decisions, John Sessions said.

The Scots actor and impressionist, 62, accused John Birt, director general from 1992 to 2000, of a ‘catastrophic’ tenure from which the BBC has never recovered. It was in better shape in the 1970s, with fewer bosses and less interference, he said.

Sessions questioned whether the BBC’s bosses are worth their huge salaries and criticised the decision to move key parts of the BBC to Salford.
