‘Love split’ Kate hides her pain
SHE had the stunning gown, the carefully coiffured hair and the sparkling earrings, but one item was noticeably missing from Kate Beckinsale’s red carpet outfit – her wedding ring.
the British star, 42, attended the evening standard theatre Awards last night amid reports that she has split from her husband of 11 years, American film director len Wiseman.
It came after pictures emerged of Wiseman, 42, enjoying the company of 24-year-old model and aspiring actress Cj Franco. they have been seen together in los Angeles three times in seven weeks, and were said to have stayed at one restaurant until 2am.
Miss Beckinsale is believed to have been in the czech republic working on the latest instalment of her Underworld film series at the time.
she and Wiseman have reportedly been living apart for several months. A source told Us magazine People that they are ‘still friendly’, but that ‘they both have had complicated schedules and have grown apart’.
representatives for Wiseman and Miss Beckinsale, the daughter of Porridge star richard Beckinsale, did not respond to requests for comment yesterday. Miss Beckinsale, who has a daughter lily, 16, with actor Michael sheen, was at last night’s glitzy event to present an award.
she was not the only actress to make an impression. Nicole Kidman, 48, who won best actress for her turn in Photograph 51, looked stunning in a lace embroidered dress.
Many actresses chose to ignore the November chill, which saw temperatures fall to just 4c (39F), and turned up daringly revealing outfits.
Mexican star salma Hayek, 49, turned heads in a plunging gown, while former Bond girl Gemma Arterton, 29, who won best newcomer in a musical for Made In dagenham, looked chilly in a backless pink dress. Gillian Anderson, 47, oozed elegance in a figure-hugging red gown. less graceful was model Kelly Brook, 35, whose thigh-high split left her flashing her underwear.
Other stars to take home awards were Imelda staunton, who won best musical performance for Gypsy, while James McAvoy won best actor for the ruling class.
