The distillery unusually sits right in the heart of the town of Oban, capital of north argyll and gateway to the isles. The distillery produces Oban 14-year-old West Highland Malt whisky, one of the classic malts. Tours cost £8, running daily throughout. There’s also an exhibition, tasting bar and gift shop.

Neighbouri­ng Balmoral Castle, royal lochnagar is the perfect place to discover how Scotch Whisky is made. The distillery takes its name from the Munro lochnagar, and the royal name was bestowed upon it following a visit by Queen Victoria in 1848. at the end of the first ever distillery tour, the Queen enjoyed dram of mature lochnagar Highland Single Malt. Scapa distillery is situated on the mainland of Orkney, on the shore of Scapa Flow. The distillery has one wash still and one spirit still producing a single malt whisky. Bespoke tours are available daily from april to September and Monday-Saturday during October and november.

Founded in 1897, the Tomatin whisky distillery sits at an altitude of 313m (1,027ft) just to the west of the village of the same name and quenches its annual five million litre capacity with the pure waters of the allt-na-Frithe.
