CHURCHILL’S SECRETS (ITV) stars Michael Gambon as the Prime Minister, fighting to hold onto power after a stroke, and Lindsay Duncan as his wife Clemmie. This one-off

drama was partly filmed at Churchill’s home, Chartwell in Kent.

LOVE, NINA (BBC1) is adapted from Nina Stibbe’s award-winning memoir, by novelist Nick Hornby — writing for television for the first time. It stars Helena Bonham Carter and Jason Watkins.

DARK ANGEL (ITV) tells the true story of Victorian poisoner Mary Ann Cotton (played by Downton Abbey’s Joanne Froggatt), who climbs the social ladder by marrying

wealthy husbands and then killing them off.

LUCKY MAN (Sky1) is a thriller inspired by an idea from comicbook maestro Stan Lee, and stars James Nesbitt as a detective who discovers a magic bracelet. THE NIGHTMARE WORLD OF HG

WELLS (Sky1) marks the 150th anniversar­y of the sci-fi novelist’s birth. Ray Winstone plays the writer telling his stories, with guest stars including Rupert Graves.
