FORRESTER: I’LL REPAY BOSS’S FAITH IN ME

-

From Back Page I can get on the pitch and show everyone what I can do and we’ll talk from there. ‘I’ve known Mark a long time and I know how he works. Likewise, he knows about me as well. ‘The last few months at my old club haven’t gone too well, but I know Mark believes in me and I’m coming up here to prove him right. ‘I want to be here a lot longer than just six months.’ Forrester was at Ibrox on Monday to watch Rangers regain a three-point lead at the top of the Championship with a 4-2 win over Hibernian. It was not his first experience of Scottish football, having spent a period on loan at Kilmarnock in season 2010-11 when part of Aston Villa’s reserves. ‘The atmosphere was incredible,’ added Forrester. ‘I was there from early on to soak it all up and it was just great to be there and good to get the win, too. The intensity of the game was phenomenal and the boys played really well, too, so it was a good day all round and a great welcome to Glasgow. ‘I already know a lot about the club. I’ve done my research and I was here with Kilmarnock on loan when I was 19, so I know how big the club is. ‘I was only young when I was at Killie, but I felt it was a good learning curve for me. I went back to England a better player so, hopefully, I can learn from that and put it on the field at Rangers. ‘This is not your average football club — it’s a huge club and it is an absolute honour to be signed here now and, hopefully, I can give the fans something to scream about.’ Warburton is confident Forrester will prove a valuable addition for Rangers. ‘He’s a technically gifted player, and he’s one I have known for a number of years from when he was at Watford and then at Brentford,’ said the Ibrox manager. ‘He’s very flexible, and can play in positions seven, eight, 10 and 11, so left, right and across the middle. ‘Harry has good awareness and a great understanding of how to use his attributes, so he brings an attacking dimension to the team and also more competition for places, and that’s something which is always welcome. ‘It’s important when you have a tight squad that you have players who can impact in many different positions. ‘He has that ability. He’s a goalscorer, too, and sees opportunities. I hope very much he comes in and makes the right impression — and I’m sure he will. ‘It’s a chance for him to look at us and for us to look at him. ‘I know him very well, but it’s important both parties have a good understanding, so I look forward to seeing how he does between now and the end of the season.’ Forrester’s transfer will become official when the January window opens today. But international clearance is unlikely to arrive in time for him to feature in Rangers’ visit to Dumbarton tomorrow.
