On the 8th day of Christmas ... Easter eggs went on sale!
ONE day into the New Year and supermarkets are preparing for the next big money-maker – by putting Easter Eggs on the shelves.
Shoppers were surprised to see them on sale in Sainsbury’s yesterday.
One store in Longbridge, Birmingham, had a selection including a ‘moo-free’ egg – despite Easter beginning on Good Friday, March 25.
One shopper, mother-of-three Holly Walker, 39, said: ‘We popped for a few bits and bobs and I was stunned when my kids started asking for an egg. It is hard enough to get children to eat healthily as it is.’
Easter treats are on sale at Tesco too with a store in Milton Keynes devoting half an aisle to them. Tesco cited customer demand. In Poundland in London Smarties and Milky Bar Easter eggs were spotted on the shelves.
