Woman, 52, killed by lentils in soup
A CARE home resident was killed by a rare allergic reaction to the lentils in her lunchtime chicken soup, an inquest heard.
Deborah Mary Molloy, 52, suffered severe anaphylactic shock in May 2014 and was taken to hospital, where she died eight hours later.
Coroner Nicholas Rheinberg blamed ‘a catalogue of errors’ by managers at the home where Miss Molloy, who had Down’s syndrome, lived.
He said her notes identified her allergy three times but were not prominently displayed at council-run Warwick Mews in Macclesfield, Cheshire.
After the verdict of death by misadventure, a Cheshire East Council spokesman said action has been taken to stop a similar tragedy.
