Corbyn’s pricey lesson

-

JEREMY CORBYN faces a struggle to convince voters he’s capable of handling the nation’s finances, but can the veteran Left-winger even deal with those of his own office?

The Labour leader tried to put through a £25 mobile phone bill to the House of Commons expenses watchdog last June, but officials pointed out it was well past the threemonth limit for filing claims. ‘I cannot pretend that we have a fancy excuse for being late with this submission,’ Corbyn’s team admitted in a newly published note to the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority.

‘We constantly aim to improve on this and seriously hope not to lose out.’

However, the watchdog gave Corbyn short shrift and refused to pay up.
