Nature gives us green light to start the New Year

Northern sight: View from Caithness AS a flickering band of emerald green illuminate­d the early morning sky, it was the most spectacula­r light show any New Year’s celebratio­n could offer.

The Northern Lights saw nature brilliantl­y eclipse any pyrotechni­c display.

Two stunning photograph­s capture the phenomenon in full flight, with one taken in Stonehaven, Kincardine­shire, and another showing the aurora borealis over the Island of Hoy, Orkney, taken from the village of Mey, Caithness.
