Smooth reward packet at Ruffer

A PRESTIGIOU­S City investment firm has nearly doubled the pay packet of its best-paid boss.

Ruffer Management said in its annual accounts that its highest-paid director, whom it did not identify, received more than £19m in the year to the end of March 2015, compared with £9.9m in the same period a year ago – a 92pc rise.

The vast bulk of the package was a profit share from Ruffer LLP.

The firm’s chairman is Jonathan Ruffer, who set up the company in 1994. He and his family own more than half the company. Other notable directors include City investment manager Crispin Odey and the 14th Earl Ferrers, Robert William Saswalo.

No one from the company was available to comment at the time of going to press.
