Log on to Emis for tech tonic

- By James Coney

THE NHs is going through major reform, and part of this is to update the technology that GPs and hospitals have access to.

so, I’m picking healthcare technology provider Emis at 1138p. It was started in 1987 by two yorkshire GPs and a business partner who believed that computerising patient information could allow them to provide better care.

The main thing going for Emis is that its customers are loyal. Around three quarters of its revenues are recurring, and 77pc of its English GP practices have been with Emis for 10 years or more.

Its profits have risen every year since it listed in 2010. But on top of this, with the Government keen to drive technology usage through the NHs in order to improve service and reduce costs, demand for Emis should be strong.

With a strong market share and high profit margins this should be a solid performer.
