IF you are on a new year fitness kick, this hi-tech sports bra may help you shape up in more ways than one.

The £100 OMbra is designed to help the wearer exercise as well as providing support.

It contains sensors that monitor breathing and heart rate, then transmit the data to an app on a smartphone to help ensure you work out at your maximum safe level, boosting health and fitness. The smart bra is among thousands of gadgets at the Consumer Electronic­s Show which opens today in Las Vegas.

LG has developed the £1,300 Styler wardrobe that can steam clean your clothes at home.

Its spray technology is designed to refresh clothes without wetting them or using detergents.

Cars are to the fore at the show. Faraday Future is unveiling a sleek electric sports prototype with a top speed above 200mph. The 1,000hp FFZero1 can accelerate from 0 to 60mph in less than three seconds.

Volvo is working on a voice-activated car similar to that in the 1980s sci-fi series Knight Rider. It eventually hopes to produce a driverless version, while in a nod to the past VW unveiled a battery-powered version of its iconic camper van.

Several companies are unveiling smart devices aimed at children. The £109 Kolibree Kids toothbrush connects to a tablet so they play games encouragin­g them to brush their teeth thoroughly.

The Yum & Done smart spoon uses an app and cuddly toy to persuade them to eat their meals.

For forgetful adults, the Chipolo smart tag can be attached to keys or other items and connected to a smartphone so, if mislaid, they can be found at the push of a button.

The Bixi allows a tablet to be unlocked, pages scrolled through and the camera controlled just by waving a hand over a sensor.

The Sen.se Mother is being hailed as a device that could allow the elderly to stay in their own homes. It uses sensors which transmit details on a person’s movements, whether medicine has been opened or if the room temperatur­e drops.

Other gadgets on show include £300 smart shoes, a tag to track your pet’s activity and a pendant that translates the wearer’s words into another language.
