Accused of rape 11 years on, man who became a woman

- Daily Mail Reporter

A TRANSGENDER woman has gone on trial accused of raping a teenage girl when she was a man.

Davina Ayrton, previously David Ayrton, allegedly raped a 15-year- old girl 11 years ago despite her pleading with him to stop the attack.

Ayrton, now 34, used his weight to lie on top of the young victim so she could not move, the court was told.

A video played to the jury showed the alleged victim explaining how she tried to slap Ayrton, who had ‘slobbered on her face’ when he tried to kiss her.

The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said in t he footage: ‘ I k now i t was over quickly but it felt like it was

for ever. He just lay on top of me. It must have been seconds but it felt like it was minutes. He just sat up as if it was nothing.’

She added that she couldn’t breathe when Ayrton attempted to kiss her.

‘I’m sure there was a point I went to slap him but I couldn’t move my arm,’ she said.

‘I said get off me. I said it three or four times. It was more his weight on me at that point.

‘That’s when he was kissing my face, slobbering on my face. I couldn’t breathe.’

Portsmouth Crown Court heard they had both been drinking alcohol before Ayrton is alleged to have forced himself on her.

The alleged victim said he held one of her arms while the other was trapped against the back of a sofa. She said Ayrton, from Fordingbridge in the New Forest, Hampshire, had medium-length greasy hair at the time of the attack.

After the alleged rape, the woman did not want to move and later told only a handful of friends about it.

The allegation was reported to police around the time of the incident but she refused to speak to them. Prosecutor Chris Stopa said Ayrton had confessed to a worker at Heywood Sumner House care home in Fordingbridge about the rape in 2014.

Mr Stopa said Ayrton told the worker ‘that she had done something that she shouldn’t have done, that she raped somebody’.

Police were called in and they contacted the alleged victim again. Judge Ian Pearson told jurors that Ayrton has learning difficulties. He added: ‘At the time of this allegation i n 2004 the defendant was a male with the name of David Ayrton.’

Ayrton denies one charge of rape between October and November 2004. The trial continues.
