Your parcel’s delivered and left in a safe place... under the doormat

- By Chris Adams

SEARCHING for a parcel delivered when you are not at home can prove frustrating.

Whether it has been left with a neighbour or just tucked somewhere out of sight of passers-by, finding it can be time-consuming.

But a courier – dubbed ‘Britain’s cheekiest delivery driver’ – kept it simple for Thomas Campbell by placing the 2ft-wide box under the doormat of his flat.

A note complete with smiley face was put through the letterbox to make sure Mr Campbell, from Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, found his parcel.

The electrician, 28, said the £12.40 clothing order – bought as a gift for a friend – was ‘impossible to miss’ and he was stunned to find the note telling him to look ‘under doormat’.

He said he admired the Amazon Logistics courier’s improvisation.

‘There’s a communal area where postmen can enter the block of flats and I’m up on the first floor along with one other,’ he explained.

‘There’s no post box or room where they can leave larger packages, so I guess they’ve just thought that under the doormat is the best place for it.’

He added: ‘When I saw the slip signposting me towards where they left it, I was in stitches. How could I miss it?

‘I would have had to hover inside to avoid stepping on it.’ He said his friend loved the present ‘so it all worked out well in the end’. But he added: ‘If it had been something more expensive, I’m not sure I’d have been too impressed.

‘It’s definitely the cheekiest delivery I’ve ever had.’

Amazon said it was satisfied with the delivery and had received no complaints.
