DAVID MAKES HAYE WITH A DATE ON DAVE
DAVID HAYE’S comeback fight against Mark de Mori will be shown live on free-to-air entertainment channel Dave. Haye will return to the ring after a three-and-a-halfyear absence when he faces the Australian at London’s O2 on Saturday week. And, with 10 days to go, the former two-weight world champion has finally secured a television deal. Haye said: ‘I’m so happy to be stepping back into the ring with my hometown crowd behind me. It’s been a long time out, with many ups and downs, but “The Hayemaker” is finally back and ready to do what I do best. I’m a young 35, in boxing terms, and still have my explosive speed and punching power. I’m looking forward to putting on a great show for the fans on “Haye Day” at The O2 on January 16.’ Sportsmail understands 13,000 tickets have been sold for the bout, which Haye hopes will lead to another heavyweight world title shot. Haye was last seen in a ring in 2012 when he stopped Dereck Chisora at Upton Park before a string of injuries forced him to pull out of two fights against Tyson Fury. Meanwhile, talks to make a middleweight unification fight between Billy Joe Saunders and Gennady Golovkin are planned for next week, according to promoter Frank Warren. WBO champion Saunders has already rejected one ‘significant offer’ from the most notorious puncher in the sport. But Warren has told Sportsmail that discussions over a possible stadium fight against the IBF and WBA title-holder are set for late next week, when he will speak with Golovkin’s promoter, Tom Loeffler. Warren said: ‘It is a stadium fight, not just a fight for a 10,000 or 15,000 crowd, and I would like it to be in this country. It’s very early days, but let’s see.’
