Romance is a heartbeat away with dating app
IT is the dream of most romantics to meet someone who sets their heart a-flutter.
But few would be bold enough to declare their feelings the very first time they spoke.
However, a new dating app promises to help users shake off their shyness, and immediately inform potential matches if their heart skips a beat.
Users of Once are asked to link the app to a fitness band on their wrist, which measures their pulse throughout the day.
The company then sends them one potential suitor each day, hand-picked by a team of matchmakers.
The gadget then relays the information to the app, which monitors the change in their heart rate whenever they look at the suitor’s picture.
If the user’s pulse stays steady, the chances are that they will not be too interested in the other person. When users like the look of a potential match, Once will tell them just how much their profile sent their pulse racing.
Jean Meyer, the app’s founder, said: ‘We can tell exactly when you are looking at their profile and for how long. If you really, really like someone, you are going to have a number of physiological reactions you cannot control.
‘Your pupils will dilate. There will be more sweat on your palms, and your heart rate will increase. Ninety-nine per cent of people won’t realise it is happening.’
