Coleen’s pregnancy souvenir – a plaster cast of her bump
MOST new mothers are happy to document their pregnancy with simple photographs.
Coleen Rooney, however, has become the latest celebrity to remember the occasion with a plaster cast of her bump – which has been turned into a bowl.
The 29-year- old wife of Manchester United footballer Wayne Rooney shared a picture of the memento with her Twitter followers, with the caption: ‘Love my bump cast.’
Her third child, kit, was born last month. His name, date of birth and baby weight are neatly written on the side of the white keepsake. it is thought the cast was created by Liverpool photographer and former midwife Jocelyn Conway for Mrs Rooney, who also has sons kai, six, and klay, two.
She advertises the cast as a ‘bump bowl’, worth £85, though it is included free in VIP photography sessions. Following the baby’s birth, pictures are taken of the newborn inside the bowl.
The cast, usually created at around 36- 38 weeks of pregnancy, takes around 15 to 20 minutes to complete. Plaster bandages are wrapped around the expectant mother’s tummy to create the shape, before being dried out.
Some women then choose to paint and decorate the bowls before displaying them as ornaments.
Singer Emma Bunton and presenters Sara Cox and Myleene klass all had belly casts before giving birth.
Mrs Rooney’s decision to publicise her baby bump bowl comes days after she told her Twitter followers that she was planning on eating her placenta, in pill form.
