Flashing f lesh and ranting on stage – pop princess who calls herself a role model!

- By Sam Creighton Showbusiness Reporter

SHE has often been cited as a role model for young women. But some wondered whether Taylor Swift was setting the right example as she accepted her latest Grammy award.

The 26-year-old singer flashed the flesh with a risque costume – a tiny red Versace bandeau top exposing her midriff and hot pink skirt slit to reveal matching underwear.

She then proceede to take a swipe at rapper Kanye West, who has been accused of misogyny over the lyrics to his new song Famous, which include slurs and sexual references to Miss Swift.

West has been heavily criticised over the track, in which he claims that Miss Swift owes all her success to him with the line, ‘I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that b**** famous’.

The bad blood between the two dates back to 2009, when Miss Swift won a video award and the controversial rapper stormed the stage to claim Beyonce should have won.

West alleges the incident propelled Miss Swift to fame.

So on Monday night, as she became the first woman to win Album of the Year twice at the Grammys, Miss Swift said in a thinly veiled reference to West: ‘I want to say to all the young women out there, there are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame.

‘But if you just focus on the work and you don’t let those people sidetrack you, someday, when you get where you are going, you will look around and you will know that it was you and the people who love you who put you there. And that will be the greatest feeling in the world. Thank you for this moment.’

Miss Swift won three awards in all at the ceremony in Los Angeles, taking her total Grammy haul since 2010 to ten. She is the only woman to win twice for best album. Only Frank Sinatra, Paul Simon and Stevie Wonder have won three times.

Not everything went to plan for the singer, who is dating Scottish DJ Calvin Harris, 32. She was spotted wiping away tears of frustration after she fluffed a line in her opening song at the ceremony. Miss Swift appeared to mouth ‘I missed a note’ to a friend behind her as she sat back down in the audience after singing Out Of The Woods.

She later changed into even fewer clothes for the after- show party, wearing a super-short black, white and gold mini skirt with a matching sleeveless crop top.

But most of the comment on social media seemed to focus on her new hairstyle, The singer, normally known for her flowing blonde locks, chose the Grammys to debut a bob cut.

While loyal fans praised the new look, others joked she resembled Vogue editor Anna Wintour, actress Diane Keaton and even Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka. One wrote online: ‘Have we talked about Taylor Swift’s terrible hair yet?’

However, Miss Swift’s speech won celebrity praise. Reese Witherspoon wrote on Twitter: ‘Loved your amazing words! Keep encouraging all those young women to write their stories & sing their songs.’

Journalist Maria Shriver, 60, exwife of Arnold Schwarzenegger, posted congratulations, adding: ‘Her speech to young women and women of all ages inspired me. Bravo.’
