Victims now have a right to appeal such decisions, which are made through a methodical process that this fascinatin­g and careful film lays bare.

THIS soapy drama from Dick Wolf, which has aired on Sky, makes its Freeview debut. The show boasts some well-staged action sequences, and at the head of its good-looking cast is House’s Jesse Spencer (pictured). Like Wolf’s Law & Order, Fire has spin-offs: Chicago PD, which is on 5 USA and Amazon Prime, and Chicago Med, which is set to start on Universal on March 20.

MARTIN BAYERLE’S last attempt to recover the gold of RMS Republic collapsed in 1987; a few years later, he spent time in prison (for the manslaught­er of a man associated with his estranged wife). This new series details an expedition with his son to finally get the gold.
