THIS IS WHAT 53 LOOKS LIKE

- Interview by ALI PANTONY Do you look great for your age? tell us your secrets at inspire@dailymail.co.uk

Genevieve Nikolopulos is the managing director of a pr company and lives in North london with her husband, thomas, and son Daniel. she shares her secrets to staying young . . .

THREAD YOUR BROWS

HAIR often starts to thin as we get older. I coat mine in a nourishing repair mask once a week to encourage growth and moisture. I recently discovered that having my eyebrows threaded and tinted takes years off my face. I get them done every six to eight weeks.

FEED YOUR SKIN

I’VE been applying a facial oil at night for the past ten years (my favourite at the moment is Caudalie’s Vinosource Overnight Recovery Oil, £26, uk.caudalie.com). As I’ve aged, my skin has become much drier and this can really emphasise wrinkles. I love serums with hyaluronic acid as this really quenches skin’s thirst.

AVOID AGEING FOODS

I GAVE up refined sugar for ten years when I was in my early 30s and I’m sure this has had a profound anti-ageing effect on my skin. Sugar can contribute to puffy eyes, spots and loss of collagen. If you have a sweet tooth, dates are recommended as a natural substitute.

BE SURE TO WORK OUT

EXERCISE is vital at this age for both mind and body. Sweating cleanses and removes toxins, while getting your circulation going helps carry more oxygen to your face, making you look more youthful. My favourite is spinning as, unlike running, it doesn’t put stress on the knees.

GET EIGHT HOURS’ SLEEP

IF THERE’s one way to turn back the clock, it’s sleep. I need eight hours a night and if I don’t achieve this, it really shows on my face. If I’ve had a stressful day, I run a hot bath with a sleep aid (like Lucy Annabella’s Time Out Bath Milk, £43, lucyannabella.

com) so when I get into bed, I drift off in no time.
