THE couple who killed Becky Watts were granted more than £400,000 in legal aid before and during their trial.
Becky, 16, was murdered by stepbrother Matthews, 28, in February last year. His girlfriend Hoare, 21, was later convicted of manslaughter. The pair dismembered Becky’s body and hid it in a shed.

THE terrorist who murdered a policeman was handed £51,000 in legal aid to help him challenge being held in solitary confinement. The award allowed the 42-year-old to argue at the Supreme Court that he had been segregated ‘unlawfully’ – even though he had access to a TV, radio and books.

THE hate preacher received almost £680,000 in legal aid during an eight-year battle against extradition to the US.
He was finally put on a plane in 2011 after the last of count- less legal appeals was finally thrown out of court.
In 2014, he was found guilty of a string of terror offences. He is serving a life sentence without parole in a ‘Supermax’ jail.
ALEXANDER PACTEAU
LONER Alexander Pacteau beat nurse Karen Buckley to death in Glasgow and then tried to dissolve her body in chemicals.
He ran up a £35,000 legal aid bill, including £15,000 to fund his defence over an attempted rape he was cleared of two years before the murder.
