QMY YEARS of sunbathing must be coming home to roost as I now have quite a wrinkled cleavage. Is there anything I can do to improve skin tone and firmness?

AMany women neglect the decolletage but it can be a real age giveaway. a wrinkled chest is most often due to sun exposure over a period of time. This contributes to the breakdown of collagen in the skin and to patches of pigmentation forming on the chest.

There are numerous non-surgical treatments to address this. One of the most common is a laser procedure that targets age spots and, over two to three sessions, should clear the pigmentation to even out skin tone.

The treatment is straightforward and takes just 15 minutes. afterwards, the chest will be red and age spots will appear darker for up to ten days. But they eventually fade and in many cases disappear.

addressing the wrinkling can be more problematic. an effective nonsurgical treatment I offer in my clinic is Ultherapy, which uses focused ultrasound to deliver heat to the muscle and deeper layers of the skin to cause collagen remodelling and tightening. I use a combination of this and the laser treatment to achieve the best results.

a top-up laser treatment will normally need to be performed once a year and the Ultherapy sessions every 18 months to two years.

after treatments such as these, it’s very important to use a high factor suncream on the chest to prevent further sun damage.

Fees are from £450 for laser treatment and from £1,200 for Ultherapy.
