Womanising star’s home hit following break-up
VANDALS have targeted Ryan Giggs’s £6million mansion after he split from his wife following claims of his womanising.
Fences and walls surrounding the couple’s six-bedroom home – and those of their neighbours – were spray-painted with words including ‘Giggs cheat!’ and ‘Was she worth it?’.
Yesterday, workers were desperately trying to scrub away the graffiti – watched by Giggs’s wife Stacey, and helped by her mother Julie Coyle. The former Manchester United footballer is facing one of the largest sporting divorce payouts in British history – about £20million – after Stacey, 37, lost patience with his philandering.
She stood by him after he had an affair with his brother’s wife – but this week it was reported rumours he had been ‘messing around’ with waitresses at a restaurant he owns had been the final straw. Giggs was also said to have struck up a ‘flirty’ friendship with a PR girl Kate Greville.
He reportedly sent her luxury handbags and flowers after they grew close promoting his £24million Hotel Football venture.
The plan is that Giggs – who is worth £40million – will move out of the couple’s marital home in Worsley, Manchester, but for now they are still sharing it. A friend of Stacey’s said: ‘The marriage is over for good and Ryan is reeling.
‘I am told that he has been mucking about with some of the girls at the restaurant.
‘Apparently a friend of hers saw something going on and Stacey just said, “No, that’s it now.” I think he is quite shocked to be honest because before now he always got away with it.’
Giggs’s image was shattered five years ago when he tried to hush up an affair with model and Big Brother contestant Imogen Thomas.
The 42-year-old spent £150,000 on an injunction to prevent the story being exposed in 2012 – before eventually giving up on his anonymity after a lengthy legal battle. It then emerged he had also had an eight-year affair with his younger brother Rhodri’s wife Natasha – and paid her £500 to abort his child weeks before her wedding.
Stacey and Giggs met in 2002 and have two children together, Liberty, 12, and Zach, nine. A source close to the couple said: ‘If all this goes into meltdown it will be a disaster financially for Ryan.’
