Friends and I all agreed that it was too hard...

-

RHIANNON Cessford, 17, from Kelty, Fife, is in S6 and sat the exam on Thursday – as did her brother, Ethan, 16, who is in S .

Both children attend St Columba’s RC High School in Dunfermline. Their mother, Amanda, 38, said: ‘When Rhiannon came out of the exam, she thought it was her fault, that she hadn’t studied enough.

‘But then all her friends were saying how hard it was too, saying “Oh my God, have you ever seen this before?”

‘Ethan came out of the exam and phoned me right away. He had prepared very well and never come across anything like it before.

‘My son has another chance to sit the exam, but for my daughter this is it, she has an offer for college.’

Ethan said: ‘There were questions I just hadn’t prepared for, and we’d never been taught how to do. I almost thought they should have been on the other paper, the one with calculators.

‘When I got out of the exam all of my friends were saying the same thing. I had practised a lot and thought I was really well prepared. It was really off-putting.’
