Anything you can do, Jamie... now Ramsay and wife are having baby no5

- Daily Mail Reporter

THEY have a long-running rivalry as chefs. Now the competition between Gordon Ramsay and Jamie Oliver appears to have moved from the kitchen to the bedroom.

Ramsay yesterday revealed he and his wife Tana, 41, are expecting their fifth child – only two months after Oliver and his wife Jools, who is also 41, shared the same good news.

Renfrewshire-born Ramsay, who is due to celebrate his 50th birthday in November, made the announcement during an interview with television host James Corden.

The Gavin & Stacey star asked Ramsay how hard it is to manage his four teenage children with ‘a lot of hormones’ to which the Scot replied: ‘We have three girls and a boy – and one more on the way.’

Corden, 37, who hosts The Late, Late Show in the US, yelled: ‘No!’ and jumped up to hug Ramsay who added: ‘I know, I am a little nervous. Obviously I’d be happy with another girl but four girls… four weddings... four Sweet 16s… four boyfriends.’

Asked about Tana’s health, he said: ‘She’s excited, she’s doing well, she’s all good, thank you.’

The similarities between the two celebrity chefs and their wives do not end with the pregnancies.

Each of them already has three girls and a boy. Oliver – who last year accused Ramsay of being jealous of him – has daughters Poppy Honey, 14, Daisy Boo, 12, Petal Blossom, six, and five-year-old son Buddy Bear.

The 40-year-old and his wife – who has written books for children and new mothers – have been together since 1993.

Similarly, Gordon and cookery writer Tana, have Megan, 17, Holly, 16, Matilda, 14, and Holly’s twin Jack.

They will this year mark their 20th wedding anniversary.

In the past, Ramsay, who is worth £82million and is a three Michelin star chef, has dubbed Oliver a ‘onepot wonder’ and claimed he is a ‘cook’ rather than a chef.

The decision by the Ramsays to expand their brood is a clear indication the couple have moved on from claims he cheated on his wife for seven years with ‘professional mistress’ Sarah Symonds.

Miss Symonds, who had a yearlong affair with former Tory MP and author Jeffrey Archer, could not resist taking to social media yesterday to tweet to a journalist: ‘How can Tana Ramsay be pregnant @iedmondson? He told me/us on tape that he’d had a vasectomy!!’

The competitiveness between Oliver and Ramsay was reignited last year when Oliver claimed Ramsay, who is known for his foulmouthed rants, envied him.

Speaking at the Sydney Opera House, Oliver, who is worth £240million, said: ‘Gordon will do anything to try and take the p*** out of me because he is deeply jealous and can’t quite work out why I do what I do and why he can’t do that.

‘He is too busy shouting and screaming and making our industry look like a bunch of shouters and screamers. He’s just a ranter. He’s paid to rant. He’s paid to shower negativity and all his proteges don’t talk to him because he’s like that and it’s a shame.’

The public spats between Ramsay, and Oliver are thought to have started in 2009 when Oliver criticised Ramsay for his disparaging comments about an Australian TV presenter. Ramsay then branded Oliver a ‘one-pot wonder’ and Oliver retaliated by mocking him for having Botox.

In 2009, Ramsay told a reporter that the last time he complained about the food at a restaurant was at ‘Jamie Oliver’s restaurant’.

A year later, Oliver is reported to have said: ‘If I was to choose between Gordon Ramsay’s cookbook or Tana Ramsay’s, it would be Tana’s every time.

‘In my opinion, her books are a damn sight better than his.’
