The purrfect picture
LIKE anyone who has ever attempted to take a decent photograph of an animal in the wild, I felt genuine sympathy for Peter Cairns, the photographer who spent years tracking Scottish wildcats and only has five decent snaps to show for it.
A couple of years ago I holidayed in Iceland and went on a whalewatching trip.
While we were indeed lucky enough to see whales, prompting much enthusiastic camera clicking from me, it was only when I returned to shore that I realised I had taken 648 blurry pictures of waves. Still, they were very pretty waves.
