‘Mars bar’ abuse matron cleared

A SCHOOL matron accused of giving an 11-year-old former pupil Mars bars in exchange for sex has been acquitted.

Tiffany Carter, 46, was found not guilty of two counts of indecent assault and three counts of gross indecency with a child.

Her parents wept in the public gallery at Lewes Crown Court as it became clear the jury did not accept the alleged victim’s version of events. He had claimed he was abused at St Andrew’s Prep School in Eastbourne, East Sussex, during the 1980s. Carter, of Eastbourne, was arrested in March 2014.
