Alas, poor luvvies
THE problem with Britain’s luvvies – those actors whose egos are as big as their bank balances – is that they have come to believe they are as clever as the lines they recite on stage. Quite why they think they have the right to give us their view on the referendum is a mystery.
Now the Shirley Valentine star Tom Conti claims, absurdly (and frankly profoundly offensively), that the word ‘luvvies’ is ‘as abusive as ‘yid’ or “n ***** ”’.
We’re sorry to disappoint him, but the Mail will continue to use this soubriquet which so perfectly captures the insufferably smug sanctimony of Britain’s oh-so-liberal and politically correct thespians.
