Pow! Scots comic book creator draws in £1.6m
HE has become the king of the superheroes after his work was turned into Hollywood blockbusters.
Now accounts posted for comic book writer Mark Millar’s company show the Scot has raked in more than £1.6million.
Millar, 46, set up the Glasgow-based company Millarworld Limited to have control over his own comic book characters. Working for DC Comics and Marvel he has previously written the adventures of superheroes including Superman, Batman, The Flash, Spider-Man and Wolverine.
Once a penniless student living in a flat near his home town of Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, he has had a string of box office successes including Kingsman, Wanted and the Kick-Ass series after his creations were picked up by movie bosses.
Accounts just posted show his firm has total assets of £1,626,805. The company made profits of £241,121 over the last year and owes £1,385,684 to unnamed creditors.
Earlier this month, Millar revealed he had married for the second time. His wife Lucy Unwin has been appointed as a Millarworld director.
