IT COULD be the end of having your ear bent by mouthy mini-cab drivers.

Uber is testing a driverless vehicle in a move set to shake up the taxi industry. Customers will be able to hail the mini-cab through their smartphones.

The US-based tech firm is using radar, laser sensors and high-resolution cameras to help the car navigate the road ahead and it could spell the death of the private hire driver.

The firm is testing just one car which is being piloted around its research and development office in Pittsburgh.
