YOUR article about poor Amy Gault was a mirror image of what happened to my wife. The excuses given by Flybe — security checks etc — are nonsense. They would not cost that much. It seems a ripoff for doing very little. K. R, Ashford, Kent.

MY WIFE and I were in France last week when we heard about the strikers rioting in Le Havre. We tried to change our booking on the Le Havre ferry to the sailing at Caen instead. Same day, same people, same vehicle, same times. We were told there was room on the Caen ferry, no problem, but the charge would be £220.

K. D., via email I HAVE heard it can be cheaper to change your name by deed poll to the one on the ticket, buy a new passport and then change your name back again on return, rather than to pay for a ticket change. G. L., Kent.

I AM so angry about this. My daughter has tried to change the name on her £375 Austrian Airlines ticket as she no longer wants to go. Austrian Airlines refuses to change the name and says it can only do so in the event of death. It’s just complete nonsense. C. B., Exeter, Devon.

MY FRIEND dropped out of a trip we’d booked to Venice. I found someone to take his ticket, but to change it would have cost £500 for a £200 flight. He hadn’t even entered his passport details at this stage. We looked for the flight again and it had come down to £100, which we booked instead. G. C., London.

THIS has been the case for years. You have to pay the difference in fare to stop someone block booking a load of Friday night flights in the sales for £30 a ticket and then selling them on for a fortune. J. L., Chester.

LAST year, 15 minutes after buying two flights, I realised I had clicked Mrs instead of Mr. I called the company that sold me the tickets and was told to cancel and re-order them. It set me back £40, and made me really angry. M. L., London.

I BOOKED a flight through Opodo and misspelt my partner’s surname. I immediatel­y noticed the error and called Opodo on their premium rate line. After holding for ten minutes, I was told there would be a £150 admin charge. M. S., Wokingham, Berks.
