- By David Meikle

A 14-YEAR-OLD boy has been found dead at his home amid claims he was being bullied.

The body of Jack Scott was discovered at a house in Bellshill, Lanarkshire, early on Tuesday morning.

Police and emergency services went to the scene but he could not be saved. An investigation to establish the cause of death has been launched but it is not being treated as suspicious.

Jack was a pupil at Bellshill Academy and tributes have been paid to him by staff and fellow pupils.

Several posts on social media have claimed Jack had recently been a victim of bullying and that his life had been made ‘hell’.

However, it is understood his school had received no formal comthrough

plaints about the issue before his death.

Anne Munro, head teacher of Bellshill Academy, said: ‘Our entire school community is very shocked and saddened by the sudden death of one of our pupils.

‘Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this very sad time. We are offering full support to our pupils and staff.’

Jack lived with his mother, Laura. His family were too distraught to speak at their home yesterday.

However, several people took to Facebook to send their condolences to the family and condemn those who had been taunting him.

Elaine Morton said: ‘What a terrible tragedy! My heart and thoughts go out to jack’s family.

‘Can’t believe you all have to go this pain. I hope the people responsible for making this beautiful young boy’s life hell are held accountable for their actions. They should hang their heads in shame.’

A teenager, who described herself as one of Jack’s best friends, said she was disgusted that bullying had apparently led to his death.

Another friend wrote: ‘R.I.P jack, worst news for us all, one of the nicest boys I ever met, always had a smile on your face. Those bullies will get their day, thoughts are with family and friends.’

Michelle Thompson said: ‘RIP Jack. When will people realise the severe damage bullying causes. Hope all the young ones learn from this. Also those being bullied please ask for help. Thoughts with the Scott family.’

Margaret Anderson posted: ‘Thinking and praying for his family at this sad tragic time, and to the ones who took part in the bullying, shame on u all.’

Tracy Skillin added: ‘I remember the day you were born your mum was so proud and was beaming. now she’s heartbroken lost in grief. May the angels guide you to peace wee bud. Rip Jack you’ll be sadly missed by many.’

Friends of Jack are planning to host a remembrance gathering in a park near his home later this week to pay tribute to him. A post on a tribute Facebook page called RIP Jack Scott read: ‘There will be some sort of remembrance night on Sunday coming, something that Jack would of wanted! All of his friends gathered together sharing some of the best memories we have with him.’

Police Scotland confirmed the discovery of Jack’s body at his home on Tuesday morning.

A spokesman said: ‘A postmortem will take place in due course to establish the exact cause of death. However police are not treating the death as suspicious.

‘A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.’
