£10k reward offered in bid to find killer of mechanic
A REWARD of up to £10,000 is being offered for information about the murder of a man in his home.
Brian McKandie, 67, was violently assaulted before the discovery of his body near Rothienorman, Aberdeenshire, on Saturday, March 12.
The mechanic had been attacked with a weapon in what police described as a ‘brutal murder’.
Officers appealed to trace a burgundy car and its occupants seen in Rothienorman on March 11 and appealed for two sets of men who met Mr McKandie the same day to come forward.
Now the Crimestoppers charity is offering the reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible.
Crimestoppers spokesman Angela Parker said: ‘Brian was a quiet and gentle man who was well-known in the local community. His family is devastated and keen to find out what happened to Brian and for those responsible for his death to face justice.
‘We are urging anyone with information to contact Crimestoppers anonymously.
‘We don’t ask for any personal details, you won’t have to speak to the police, and you won’t have to go to court. Just tell us what you know, not who you are.’
Anyone with information should contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or through its anonymous online form at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
