BIG MATCH RATINGS
WALES 10/10 4-1-3-2
WAYNE HENNESSEY
SUPER save from Carrasco after eight minutes but no chance with Nainggolan’s rocket to put Belgium in the lead. Got a vital touch to a cross destined for the head of Lukaku.
JAMES CHESTER
YELLOW-CARDED for tripping Lukaku unnecessarily on the halfway line but always sensed danger and aided the Welsh effort to stifle Hazard. Composed and brought the ball out confidently.
ASHLEY WILLIAMS
WHAT shoulder problem? Buried his header for Wales’s equaliser and could have scored a second before the break. Constantly communicating instructions to his team-mates.
BEN DAVIES
BOOKED in the fifth minute for taking out De Bruyne but did not allow his impending suspension to put him off his game and did defensive work diligently. Has grown with every game in this tournament.
CHRIS GUNTER
PLAYING his 65th game of the season and had the task of trying to contain Hazard. Coped well and got forward regularly — never better than when supplying the cross for Vokes’s goal.
JOE LEDLEY
SO GOOD in possession that Wales had enjoyed more of the ball than Belgium by the interval. Completed 44 out of 48 passes and had run himself into the ground when he was substituted.
NEIL TAYLOR
GREAT block to stop Belgium’s big early chance and so nearly scored his second Euro 2016 goal with a clean hit. Offered fine crossing and energy all night. Real threat going forward.
JOE ALLEN
A RARE stray pass ultimately led to Belgium’s opener but he was typically excellent thereafter, tackling, passing and being everywhere at the right time.
AARON RAMSEY
COVERED loads of ground and vital to much of Wales’s best play. Pinpoint corner for the equaliser and a great cross for Robson-Kanu’s goal. Man of the match. Such a shame about his booking.
HAL ROBSON-KANU
PUT Wales in front with a sensational goal, taking out three Belgians with a Cruyff turn. Troubled Denayer with his body strength and eagerness to run in behind. Won’t be without a club for long.
GARETH BALE
TYPICAL selfless display, providing devilish counter threat but tracking back, too. Put an early shot from the left into the side-netting and tested Courtois from the other side later on.
SUBSTITUTES
Sam Vokes for Robson-Kanu (80); Andy King for Ledley (78); James Collins for Ramsey (90).
CHRIS COLEMAN
MARSHALLED his group masterfully, crafting a team spirit that proved unshakeable.
DAMIR SKOMINA (Slv) 7
SHOWED yellow cards early to three Welsh defenders and asserted control. ATTENDANCE: 45,936
