Dementia OAP dies after being found in woods

-

A MAN of 83 with dementia has died in hospital after going missing for three days.

Henry Patterson, of Bishopbriggs, near Glasgow, was critically ill after police searchers found him in a wood.

Relatives reported him missing on Monday, ‘extremely concerned’ because he had early-stage dementia and did not normally leave the house on his own.

Police, who issued a public appeal for sightings, spotted him near Cawder golf club. Mr Patterson was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment but his death was confirmed last night.

Chief inspector Craig Smith said: ‘I would like to thank everyone who took the time to share our posts to help find Mr Patterson.’ Inspector Duncan Evans added: ‘Our thoughts, the thoughts of the local community and all who shared our appeals will no doubt be with his family.’
