Scotland’s place is within the UK, as confirmed by the overwhelming No vote of 2014. The UK this year took a democratic decision to leave the European Union. So your search for a Scottish angle is fruiltless, Pete. Best
you leave all that difficult Brexit stuff to the big brains on the bench in front of you in the Commons.
LIZ CULLEN, Glasgow. ALL Nicola Sturgeon’s talk of a second referendum is a distraction for her ‘Freedom!’ brigade of supporters. Leaving IndyRef2 ‘on the table’ is designed to keep the separatists happy. But she knows that’s independence is parked. The usual suspects are still all for independence – even though the country would be up to its eyes in debt.
But the rest of Scotland is in no mood to lose its senses. While the SNP hoped Brexit would see people rushing headlong to break away from Britain, it just hasn’t happened. So Miss Sturgeon is left sitting on top of a seething resentment in her own party as the zealots start to realise they’ve been fooled by their own leaders.
