SALES RISE

Strong sales of mobile phones, televisions, cookers and vacuum cleaners helped the owner of Currys, PC World and Carphone Warehouse beat first quarter sales forecasts. Shares in Dixons Carphone rose 3.96pc, or 14.8p to 389p after it said sales from shops open more than a year increased 4pc for the 13 weeks to July 30.
