Sir Elton opts for Airdrie on his next tour
SIR Elton John is to perform a stadium show in Airdrie, it was announced yesterday.
The concert, at the Excelsior Stadium in the Lanarkshire town, on June 24, will form the only Scottish stop-off on his 2017 Wonderful Crazy Night album tour.
Excelsior Stadium owner Paul Hetherington and Tom Wotherspoon, owner of Airdrieonians FC who play there, said in joint statement: ‘That a truly global superstar has chosen to come here can only benefit the club, stadium and local economy, as fans of Elton’s from far and wide will descend on our town and our stadium.’
It will be Sir Elton’s first ever performance in Lanarkshire but he has previously played in Kilmarnock in 200 , Inverness in 2007, Perth in 2008 and Falkirk in 2012.
Tickets go on sale on Friday.
