Roman the racer’s £8m of speed machines
IT has played host to Schumacher, Senna and other giants of the car racing world.
But now the Nurburgring race track in Germany has welcomed a new kind of winner – and his outrageous collection of supercars.
Roman Abramovich, the billionaire owner of Chelsea, showed off his motors as he went for a spin with friends. His collection is thought to be worth £8.5 million.
Among those he took to Germany were a rare Pagani Zonda R, of which only 15 have ever been made. Another car on display was the Ferrari FXX, a prototype supercar, which is also owned by Michael Schumacher.
The owner of the track is Mr Abromovich’s former business partner Viktor Kharitonin, who invited his friend to attend a two-day race event.
Track instructor Tatiana Golovleva said: ‘This is an exclusive event for the owner and his friends’.
Abramovich’s collection of the world’s most coveted supercars includes the Bugatti Veyron – the world’s fastest road car at 250mph, a Ferrari 488 GT3, a Mercedes AMG GT3, a Lamborghini Reventon and many more. According to reports, the businessman, pictured, who is worth £8.6billion, spent the first day racing on the Nordschleife (Northern Loop), the longest section of the famed Nurburgring at 13 miles.
