Cycle of blame
As an 81-year-old cyclist I would respect Allan Ramsay’s views (Letters) a great deal more if he was setting a good example. He tells us about his various ailments caused by car drivers, but would they have been less serious had he been wearing a helmet?
In the photo in last week’s Mail Mr Ramsay is on what I would class as a racing bike on a surfaced road but with no protective gear in sight.
I have recently moved to Glasgow and my window overlooks a well-used cycle track where most cyclists wear protective clothing but a minority, sometimes with young children in tow, do not wear helmets or other safety gear.
I think in many instances there are as many arrogant cyclists as car drivers and these are the ones in both camps who cause problems.
