Downton ladies radiant on red carpet
BEAMING from head to toe, the Downton Abbey girls had plenty to smile about as they stepped out in Los Angeles ahead of the Emmy Awards.
Actresses Laura Carmichael, 30, Michelle Dockery, 34, and Joanne Froggatt, 36, dazzled at a party in LA before last night’s ceremony.
The trio were among a small army of British talent nominated for prestigious awards. Idris Elba, Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hiddleston were all nominated for best lead actor in a limited series or movie, while James Corden’s Late Late Show was up for the outstanding variety talk series prize.
Hiddleston was nominated for his role in The Night Manager, while his co-stars Hugh Laurie and Olivia Colman earned nods for their supporting roles.
Meanwhile, Dame Maggie Smith was up for best supporting actress in a drama series for her performance in Downton Abbey.
Downton was taking on Game Of Thrones for outstanding drama series. Game Of Thrones needs three more wins to be the most-awarded show in Emmy history – beating Frasier’s 37.
A host of stars from Game Of Thrones were up for acting awards. Kit Harington and Peter Dinklage were nominated for best supporting actor in a drama series, while Maisie Williams, Lena Headey and Emilia Clarke were nominated for best supporting actress in a drama series.
