Drunk teenager ‘shot party guard’

- By Daily Mail Reporter

A TEENAGER who was brought up in Scotland is behind bars in the US after being accused of shooting a security guard while high on drink and drugs.

It is claimed Daniel Magee opened fire at a property close to the University of Texas in Austin last weekend.

The 18-year-old, who was raised in Dyce, Aberdeen, is now in jail on bail of $50,000 (£38,500).

It is alleged a search of his car and home also uncovered an AK-47 assault rifle. It is understood that the weapon was not used to attack security guard Edward Earls, who was shot in the foot and had to have surgery.

Magee was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The former Dyce Primary and Dyce Academy pupil is not a student at the University of Texas but had turned up at a fraternity party at an off-campus house. It’s claimed that the security guard was asked to remove ‘heavily intoxicated’ Magee after he started causing trouble.

An affidavit states Magee threatened to ‘return to the party with an AK-47 rifle to shoot up the place’.

It is claimed he later returned with two friends and shot Mr Earls. Houston-born Magee moved between Texas and Aberdeen a number of times with his family due to his father’s job in the oil industry.

A former neighbour said: ‘I knew him when he was about seven. I’m absolutely stunned.’

It is understood Magee’s parents, Ian and Debbie, are divorced and live separately in Houston.

His family declined to comment.
