FORMER TV weathergirl Sian Lloyd has revealed how a stalker left her scared to be alone in her home.
The 58-year-old said the man sent explicit pictures of himself to her house and even included his phone number – but police were still unable to find him.
Miss Lloyd said: ‘Sadly I think it’s completely changed my life.
‘I’ve gone from someone hyperconfident, carefree, going from one thing to another, never looking over my shoulder. Now I look over my shoulder mentally and physically.’
Miss Lloyd, who worked for ITV for 24 years until 2014, said she had been targeted by stalkers several times but the incident last year was particularly traumatising, when she returned home to Mid Wales after presenting awards at a rally event.
‘Having driven up from London with my husband there were loads of letters and right on top was a handwritten letter,’ she told Y Byd Ar Bedwar on Welsh channel S4C.
‘I opened it and a picture fell out of the most revolting close-up of what we shall say was a man in a state of excitement, a man’s private parts, and it could not have been a bigger close-up. And there was an accompanying letter that said, “This is for you and there’s plenty more where that came from,” and he even gave his phone number.’
She contacted police, but they were unable to trace the culprit. Miss Lloyd told the show, which airs this week: ‘I resent his intrusion enormously. You could say he’s done me a favour as I’m incredibly alert because of what could go wrong and it might sound as if I’m a scaredy-cat or paranoid but better that than the possibility of a tragic outcome.’
In 2002, Miss Lloyd was forced to move from her London home to get away from a stalker. At the time, she said: ‘This man wrote asking me to meet him for tea at Fortnum and Mason. When I didn’t go, he’d write other letters… until one day I was in the studio and found him six inches away. He’d managed to bypass security and just said, “I’ve been writing to you but you didn’t answer”.’
Miss Lloyd divorced multimillionaire Jonathan Ashman last year. She had previously been engaged to ex-Lib Dem MP Lembit Opik.
