A FORMER ice hockey player works with a private eye in a new Canadian investigat­ive drama that has a good line in banter. Matt Shade is played by Jason Priestley, with steely but sad blue eyes; Cindy Sampson is his partner Angie Everett, a much tougher soul.

KIDS’ ACTION FLICK The Karate Kid, 8pm, E4

EVERYTHING about this reboot of the Eighties teen hit is cool, from the casting of Jaden (son of action hero Will Smith) as the new Ralph Macchio, to Jackie Chan as his wise mentor. Neither film is a masterpiec­e, but kids will get just as excited now as they did back then.

FILM COMEDY Working Girl, 8pm, Sky Greats

MELANIE GRIFFITH is the sassy secretary getting herself an education and busting her way through the glass ceiling in this wonderful Wall Street-flavoured comedy. Shoulder pads at dawn.

SEASON FINALE Ray Donovan, 9pm, Sky Atlantic

THIS is the season four finale of the tough drama about a Hollywood fixer, but it’s not the end of the story — Ray (Liev Schreiber, pictured below), and whatever remains of his long-suffering family, will be back for a fifth. No matter how grim the tone is, though, there’s always great acting on show.

MODERN ART Who’s Afraid Of Conceptual Art?, 9pm, BBC4
