NATIONAL TREASURE, 9PM, CH4

THIS thoughtprovoking drama explores the topical if controversial subject of accusations of historic sex abuse, here against a fictional celebrity. Robbie Coltrane (pictured) tops an outstanding cast as veteran comic Paul Finchley, with Andrea Riseborough and Julie Walters (both pictured with Coltrane) as his troubled daughter and his long-suffering wife. Their lives implode when he is arrested after a single accusation and the story hits the headlines. Carefully establishing the characters, this first of four episodes is incredibly effective, plausible and deeply involving.
